Why Good Grief Parenting?

When grief overtakes your family after the death of a child, it's no longer parenting as usual. You feel devastated and overwhelmed by the responsibility of holding your surviving child's tender heart while you yourself are grieving the loss of their sibling.

Thank goodness for support groups. But you need more than understanding when it comes to parenting your broken-hearted child to live a happy, hopeful life after loss of a sibling has shattered childhood innocence.

Beyond what most grief groups offer, you need parenting guidance—not just for now, but for the years to come.

An unknown future lies ahead. Grief hangs over every day.  You wonder . . .

How can we ever get past this grief?

Good Grief Parenting provides the guidance, assurance, skills, and tools you need to support your grieving child and yourself as you heal. With hope and confidence you can live forward toward a future bright with possibilities and even joy.

FIND OUT HOW
Grief is in two parts. The first part is loss. The second is
the remaking of life.

Parenting After Child Loss

Author Anne Roiphe describes grief as having two parts. The first part is loss. The second part is the remaking of life. Most resources available to grieving parents offer support for coping with loss but fall short of addressing the far-reaching impact on a family and the necessary remaking of life after the death of a child.

Good Grief Parenting is different. Parents learn “how”—not only how to cope with the devastation of their loss, but also how to remake life for themselves and their bereaved child throughout the years to come.

Good Grief Parenting acknowledges the layers of grief that are unique to the experience of child loss in the early childhood years—including  the excruciating challenges of parenting a young family with years of growing up ahead while grieving the loss of a child.

Parents find the guidance and assurance they need—to heal and help their child heal, to tap into and trust their own wisdom, and to build a solid foundation for living forward toward a future bright with possibilities and even joy.

Working with me, parents discover the life-changing difference of good grief and the four heartbeats of the Good Grief Parenting framework.
